A happy dog is a well trained dog and just choosing to make this happen is a step in the right direction! Too many dogs are left untrained and jump on everyone, chew end tables and bark all night! Your dog will be better off once trained and of course, so will you. So read on for some fabulous ideas on how to make the job of training your dog a little less hectic!

Teaching your dog a fun trick, such as “play dead” can be a fun way of distracting him. When your dogs behavior is bad, simply use the command you have established for his trick instead of using negative punishment. This provides for a fun activity for your dog and creates a positive environment for you as well.

When deciding to train your dog, make sure that you have patience towards your pet. All dogs are unique and learn at different paces. To be effective in training your pooch, make sure you have the patience to see it through. Treat your dog with kindness even if he or she may try your patience.

A good dog training tip is to always keep chocolate out of your dog’s reach. Chocolate is highly poisonous to dogs, but that won’t stop them from eating it. Onions are also not good for dogs so it’s best to keep them away too. Never leave chocolate lying around.

Try behavioral training with your puppy before the age of one. You may not have much luck training some puppies beyond potty training if you start too early, but training an older puppy can prevent some behaviors before they start. If your puppy is distracted and thinks you are simply playing, waiting another few weeks to try training again.

Learn your dog’s signals to help prevent accidents inside. Most dogs have a specific pattern of behavior indicating a need to eliminate. By learning this pattern, you can take your dog outside immediately, which teaches him appropriate behaviors. Being in tune with your dog’s natural tendencies makes house training easier on both of you.

Using a different tone of voice for different purposes, is a great teaching tool in training your dog. Commands, corrections and praise should all have their own tone in order to help your dog distinguish cause and effect with his and your behavior. Be firm and sharp with commands, use a louder tone for corrections, and your natural voice for praise.

Do not just tell your dog “No”. This does not give him the information that he needs to learn what it is that he is doing wrong at the time you are yelling at him. Give him specifics. If he is jumping up on company, tell him to “No Max, get down!” He will then be able to learn from this experience.

A good dog training tip is to be aware of the body language you use. Dogs pay close attention to our body language and it’s important that you are sending the right message. Talking too much can also confuse dogs, so it’s best to be succinct with what you’re trying to say.

When training your dog, you should always give your dog only one order at a time. If you give your dog more than one command at the same time, your dog will be confused about what order it should follow. This will frustrate both of you. By giving your dog only one order at a time, it will better understand your commands which will lead to a higher success rate.

Teach your puppy the “Leave it!” command. This command is very important in day-to-day situations. Use it if your dog tries to grab food off a table or eat rabbit poop when you are out for a walk. To get the dog to follow your command, hold a treat in your hand (have one in the other hand, also). Hold your hand open, and when he goes for the treat, close your hand as you say the command “Leave it!” Then offer him the other treat, and discard the one you told him to leave. Repeat this step a few times, and he will learn to “Leave it!” when you tell him to.

Help your dog to learn quickly where they should go when you have people come to the door as many dogs will bark and make a fuss. Get a good dog cage and teach your dog to go there whenever the door knocks. You’ll find all sorts of dog cages available in many stores and websites.

If you are looking to keep your dog outside then good dog crates are the best way to do this. With a dog crate outside your dog can go in and out when they please.

In order to train a well-mannered dog you should aim to begin training your dog in its first four months of life. These first four months are its primitive years of development and growth. If you begin training during this period, you will have a better chance of raising a good dog.

Consider the advice you have read in this article very thoroughly and write it down if necessary. A training manual would be a good aid to working with your dog, and this article would make a great beginning for it. Hopefully you have learned a lot and are now prepared to produce a smarter, well behaved dog you will not only be very proud of, but have a lot more fun with!

Is cooking a scary frontier for you? Are you nervous about entering your kitchen, remembering a previous disaster? If this is you, never fear! Plenty of people have trouble with cooking, and all it takes is a little practice and proper education to cook like a pro! Read on to find out how.

To save time in the kitchen, make two meals at once. On a night or weekend when you have more time, make a dish that freezes well and double the quantity you need. When the extra portion has thoroughly cooled, transfer it to a freezer-ready container, and a second meal will be waiting in the freezer.

If you are going to braise meat, cook it at a low temperature for a long period of time. By doing it this way, the meat will stay tender and it will retain its juiciness, which in turns, leaves the meat tasting good. Cooking it a high temperature can dry the meat out.

Store your ginger in the freezer to make it last longer and easier to grate or mince. You can peel the whole piece before freezing it if you prefer, or leave the peel on. Freezing it prevents the sogginess and mold that can occur before you use it up from the fridge, and ensures that you always have fresh ginger for a recipe.

To keep cookies from spreading while baking, chill unused dough and cool off cookie sheets between batches. If cookie dough is allowed to reach room temperature before baking, either in the bowl or on the pan, then the ingredients in the dough are doomed to expand. To get a dense yet still moist cookie, just chill the remaining dough between batches and cool an already used sheet in cold water before returning to the oven.

It is important to know that just because a recipe does not call for a certain spice does not mean you cannot add it. For instance, you may feel that garlic would make the dish taste better, which may be true. So do not be scared, go ahead and add it.

Always choose to cook with a wine that you would drink yourself. If you don’t even like the taste of the wine that you are cooking with, chances are that you will end up disliking whatever it is that you are making! So pick out a good wine that you know you love, and you will like your dish even more.

If you are making meatloaf or meatballs it is a good idea to test a small piece before you make the rest of it. Make a little piece and fry it in a frying pan. Then you can taste it, see if it needs any more seasoning. It is a small thing to do that will go a long way to making a better tasting meal.

Olive oil is any cook’s best friend. It is a very versatile ingredient and is, opposed to what many people think, not limited to just Italian cuisine. Stir fried dishes and any dish in which you would ordinarily use butter can be made better tasting and healthier when olive oil is used.

When you are cooking a roast, go large. Buying a bigger cut of meat, when you buy a roast for a meal, has a couple of benefits. One is that you will have more leftovers from the meal. Another is that the larger the meat, the better the overall finished flavor will be.

You don’t need to go out and buy an expensive gravy for your dish. Instead, save the juices that your meat creates at the bottom of your pan, and use that as the base for a nice gravy. It’s a lot cheaper and can taste great. There are many different recipes available that use this juice to make gravy.

When making large quantities of bacon, lay the bacon on a foil-wrapped baking sheet, and cook it in the oven (according to package directions) instead of on the stove top. The bacon will not only remain flat during cooking, but you will not have to cook batch after batch to reach the quantity you need.

A quick way to stop your fruits and vegetables from browning before using. When the air hits a freshly peeled apple or potato, the fruit or vegetable will begin to turn brown. Placing the freshly peeled fruit or vegetable in a bath of cold lightly salted water will help the fruit or vegetable retain its color.

As was said in the beginning of this article, cooking is all about education and practice. This article has given you the building blocks to become a better cook, now all you have to do is practice, practice, practice! Soon you’ll be making great food that you’ll love to eat!

For many of us, gardening is more than something we do simply to make our house or our property look more attractive. It can be an ideal way to lower our stress levels and get some exercise while breathing in fresh air and getting in touch with nature.

When you are working on your garden, you should always be sure to have a good product to kneel on. There are many products that are especially designed for gardening, and these are incredibly important as they allow you to feel more relaxed and comfortable as well as protecting your knees.

Be sure to keep up with the weeding once you plant your garden so that the weeds do not get out of control. Spending a few minutes each day to pull weeds and control insects is well worth your while. If you don’t do this, you could find that weeds and insects take over the garden.

Go green and try to conserve as much water as possible in your garden. One way to do this is to take the water from steaming or boiling vegetables and water your plants with it. The enriched water also has the benefit of acting as a fertilizer and will give your plants a boost.

Give your plants an appropriate amount of water to optimize growth and plant health. Different varieties of plants require varying amounts of water so you cannot water your entire garden at the same rate. Instead, determine how often each type of plant needs water and how much before planning your watering schedule.

How much water do your plants need? Generally, plants need at least 1 inch of water each week. Deep watering promotes root growth far into the ground. Light sprinklings encourage shallow root growth and plants cultivated this way will be susceptible to drying out in times of drought. To lessen the need for supplemental watering, consider using mulch or working peat moss or compost into the soil.

Keep slugs out of your tender plants. Cut the bottom 2 inches off a plastic soda bottle to make a ‘saucer’. Dig a little hole near to any tender plants and bury the saucer with about 1/4 inch left above ground. Fill it with beer, and leave it overnight The slugs will be attracted to the sugar in the beer and will make their way in, never to get out again!

Avoid over watering your garden plants. If you saturate the soil, it becomes a haven for fungus that can negatively effect your plants. You also risk root rot when your soil is too wet. Water until the soil is wet, but not saturated, and check daily to see how much water you should add.

Draw your fingernails across a bar of soap, to seal the undersides of your nails off. Doing this will prevent dirt from becoming trapped underneath them while you are gardening. When you are finished in the garden, you can clean your nails with a nailbrush to remove the soap.

Gardening can be a great way to relieve stress and so it should be done by people who are suffering from any stress related diseases. This will allow the people to quickly feel more relaxed as they are outside and working with different kinds of plants as well as the earth.

It is important to remember to apply sunscreen to the back of your neck as well as your ears when you are gardening. Many people focus on their face, hands and arms when they are applying sun block before going outside to do their gardening. Your ears and the back of your neck will get a lot of sun exposure, so it is important to protect them too.

While most of the fruits of your labor and the fruits of your trees, will actually show up in specific seasons, this doesn’t mean that all of the work is done in those seasons. Gardening has tasks to do all year round so be sure that you are ready for this kind of commitment.

Make bloom-times overlap. Plant both early and late blooming plants next to each other, so that you have flowers all season long. Shallow-rooted annuals can be planted around deep-planted spring bulbs – when the bulbs die down, the annuals will just be coming into flower. For each season, choose one outstanding plant to serve as the key flower. Plant in drifts throughout the bed, and fill in with secondary flowers.

Learn how to trim your plants. Not all plants require trimming, but if you notice unhealthy stems, trimming a plant can help you get rid of a disease or at least slow it down long enough for you to cure your plant. Do not cut too many stems and leaves: cut only the unhealthy parts.

Mini roses are very popular and are low maintenance. They come in many bright colors and offer a variety of interesting flower shapes. However, if you want to add a rose to your garden for the fragrance, then a mini-rose may not be a good choice because they produce little to no fragrance. If fragrance is your preference, try a larger, hybrid rose for the most intense fragrance.

If you can’t get mulch for your soil, use wet newspapers. Damp newspapers around the base of your plants will help hold moisture in the ground and protect your plants’ root systems from heat and sunlight. Newspaper is biodegradable, so it will eventually degrade and actually add more nutrients to your soil.

Have you ever seen a white powdery substance on your plant foliage? This is a powdery mildew that is most common in zones that have cool nights and warm days or in areas that are over-crowded with plants in humid locations. A common method to rid your plants of this mildew is by applying sulfur to the plant. Sulfur comes in a variety of forms, but a common form is powder.

Hopefully this article can be of help so that you can enjoy a nice and relaxing hobby in gardening. If you use these tips, you will find out that gardening can prove fun and enjoyable!

The expense of hiring kitchen fitters to complete your new kitchen can be avoided by you installing your kitchen yourself. Due to the normal kitchen fitting costing nearly 4,000 pounds you’re really much better off fitting it yourself.

You will soon discover that fitting kitchens is not difficult though you might like to employ an electrician and plumber for these parts as they will make your life very much easier. In fact these days nearly all kitchen units come pre-assembled so you don’t have to be concerned about building them.

The first spot to start is to do away with all of your previous kitchen cupboards though be aware of how these have been formerly fitted as they will give you an idea of how to go about installing your new units. Having all your previous units away you should now have a perfectly empty kitchen in which to start out. The equipment essential for fitting kitchens are a drill and saw as well as a hammer, screw driver, level, pencil and tape measure.

The 1st place to start off is by moving your kitchen floor cupboards into place take into account they must to be level so as your work surface will also be level. Bear in mind to cut out some gaps to allow for pipe work for your sink as well as electrical cabling for sockets. The toughest part of fixing the units is getting them square next to the walls, mark them out against the wall and then use the electric saw to cut the cupboard to shape, now drill and fix the cupboard to the wall. Having fitted the floor cabinets into place you can now fix the worktop across the top of the units cutting out any holes required for the sink and taps.

Now you’ve fitted your floor cabinets you can now begin to fit your kitchen wall cupboards. Another pair of hands are essential when fitting the wall cupboards as you must be able to mark where you will be drilling your holes. Be sure you remove the doors to your kitchen wall cabinet as this will make it easier to handle.

What style of home do you live in, is it a modern or traditional building, have you already furnished it with other styles of furniture. With such a long history the UK offers many different traditional styled homes. If your aim is to furnish your home according to the period it was built then you are best looking traditional style furniture rather than modern. This is not to say that Victorian homes cannot have a modern theme décor, they certainly can and often this works very well with a combination of modern and traditional.

Generally speaking it seems that the younger you are the more likely you are to go for a modern theme in your home or property. Leather and corner sofas have always had a much more modern design about them. You will find a vast selection of sofas in these styles ranging in price as well as quality so spend some time choosing the right one for you.

Sofas come in various qualities and therefore many will last far longer than others if you want yours to last a lifetime then take care over the build quality. You need to consider whether you are someone who is likely to change your sofa on a regular basis or someone who will keep their sofa for years. For those of you who will be changing sofas on a regular basis choose from the many cheaper ones available as these are just as good looking they just won’t last as long as the more expensive ones.

Whenever you lay a new flooring whether it’s laminate or carpet you should check to see if your sub-floor is level as this will determine a good job from a bad. First establish whether your sub-floor is wood or concrete as this will confirm how you need to level it.

With wooden sub-floors there is a choice of two materials. You can either use hardboard or plywood, plywood comes in thicker sheets and gives a far more ridged finish to the sub-floor. Hardboard is relatively thin coming in thicknesses of 1/8 inch which makes it easier to work with but less ridged than the second option which is plywood. Depending on how uneven your floor is should determine which material you use if your sub-floor is very uneven then use plywood.

Where your sub-floor is made of concrete you will have to level it using a self-levelling screed. You will also need to lay a membrane layer over the screed to stop moisture escaping and damaging your flooring.

With the sub-floor completely level you’re now able to start the main job. Begin with fitting your underlay directly to the sub-floor. Always fix the underlay down using either glue or staples to stop it from moving around when you fitting the laminate boarding.

Now your underlay is fitted you can start with the first sections of laminate. With your back facing the door start laying the boards in the far left hand corner of the room. Start from left to right fitting spacers of 5-8mm between the boards and wall. When you get to the last piece on the right you will need to measure this and then cut to size, be sure to leave a 5-8mm spacer on the sides as well as the fronts.

Use as many spacers as you can with the first 3 rows. Having used plenty of spacers your 3 rows should be well and truly fitted so they will not slide around whilst you fit the remaining laminate boards.

Once you have your three rows secure just continue the procedure until you reached the other side of the room where you will need to measure and cut the final boards.

Most individuals spend the majority of their time at their residence, and those who either work at home or do not have a job, are there even more often. It’s easier to handle the stress you encounter outside the home if inside your home is a haven. Your home can be your beloved refuge where you spend your happiest hours. This article discusses many techniques that make a house a home.

Really consider how important comfort is to you. Obtaining total perfection in your everyday life would become quite boring rather quickly. However, if there is an item of your home that causes irritation or discomfort, it will continue to be a mental thorn until you deal with it. You can strive to increase the comfort level of your home by doing simple things like replacing an old, uncomfortable computer chair or lowering that one shelf that always seems just out of reach. Even something as easy as getting a new mattress can make a big difference in your life.

If there isn’t any space in a room, make it bigger. Re-organizing your belongings can create more space in any room; however, it still may not be all the space you need. A little bit more space can make a big difference.

If you want to increase the value of your home, you may want to have more recreational areas. Even cheap additions can have a huge impact on the value of your home. You can try adding a room for exercising or a basketball hoop. Having these areas will help your family enjoy your home more.

Lighting can have a large impact on the way a room is viewed, so do not overlook this part of your home. To add more utility to many spaces, make changes to the lighting, helping to improve the visibility and aesthetic appeal of the space. You can add new light fixtures by yourself and this can greatly improve the look of your home.

Make your home more exciting by adding some greenery. Create a little outdoor oasis, or call in the help of a professional to give you the backyard of your dreams. This will give you a place to relax outside and get fresh air. You can grow vegetables, flowers for your vases, or herbs for cooking.

Simple changes can increase the appeal of your home. For example, you can fix your home’s look by painting it, adding new windows, and fixing your roof.

Your home is where you spend most of your time, so having one that you really love can make you feel satisfied with your life in general. Any home improvement projects are an investment in your finances as well as your personal life. Choose improvements that make you happy.

Learning how to budget your money brings a great sense of relief as well as a much more organised life. Just because you don’t have immediate bills such as rent, mortgage, food does not mean you shouldn’t budget your income so as you know just where your money is going.

The great thing about starting out in work is that generally you will still be living with your parents which means a simple budget will suffice.
Below are 5 items which should be included in any budget, young or old.

• All of us need to eat and sleep so food and rent should always be top of any lifestyle budget, make sure you are giving something towards both of these. Most parent will not ask for large sums of money but don’t be fooled into thinking you should give nothing.
• What are you spending on going out or playing football, as a young person this will be the next important part of your budget?
• How much do you spend each week or month on new clothing?
• Be sure to include a budget for what you can spend on holidays or trips away.
• Finally make sure your budget includes a proportion towards savings as although you may feel you don’t need then now you certainly will when you get older and the quicker you start to save the more you’ll have when you need them. You should be saving at least 15% of all money you earn.

If you’d like to avoid this experience again, read on for some advice and tips on how to fix your own plumbing.

During the week, hair and soap can build up in your drains and can cause serious clogs. Make sure that you have strainers in each of your drains to help catch this debris so that it does not become an issue. This will help to keep your water flowing efficiently.

Make sure that when you are doing any home improvements to your plumbing that they are done up to the building codes in your area. The building codes are there to protect people from being scalded by hot water, trap harmful sewer gas from entering the home, and ensure plumbing is done properly before finishes are applied.

When the temperature drops below freezing, protect exposed pipes from the weather by adding a source of heat near the pipes. Ranging from electrical tape applied directly to the pipes to small space heaters placed near exposed pipes, keeping the temperature above freezing can prevent costly repairs caused by frozen pipes.

If you have bad water pressure in the shower, the showerhead might be clogged. Take a plastic baggie, fill it with regular vinegar, and tie it to the showerhead so that the showerhead is covered. Leave it overnight. In the morning, take the baggie off and use a small toothbrush to scrub away any mineral deposits.

If you can’t turn off a main valve to your entire home when you go on vacation then turn off the valves to each water line. For example,if you live in an apartment, turn off the individual valves in your bathrooms and kitchen. Don’t forget to drain out your dishwasher’s hose and get the valves behind your toilets.

Never try to undertake a project that you are unsure of. Additionally, never call on a friend to help you with something, if they are not a professoinal. There have been hundreds of good friendships ruined by a guy claiming to know exactly what he is doing, when the truth is he is clueless.

If you plan on doing any work to your plumbing you must ensure that you know what the codes and laws are where you live. You need to know exactly how far a pipe has to be from electrical, for example, or how large a pipe must be to be to code.

In any DIY plumbing project, make sure that you always test the drains and the supply lines before you close up the walls. It is a lot easier to find and solve problems if you look for them while you are still in the process of actively doing the job.

For people who live in an apartment complex, plumbing is often forgotten about. The first time they move into a home they are unable to resolve any minor plumbing problems, because they have never dealt with this kind of thing. It is good to get a basic understanding when moving into your first house.

Avoid using hard cleaners on your toilets, such as drop-in cleaner tabs in the tank. When these tabs are almost completely dissolved, what’s left of the tab gets washed into the bowl. This can then end up clogging the toilet’s port holes, preventing the toilet from flushing properly. It can take months for this debris to finish dissolving in those holes.

Try to update your internal toilet components from time to time. If you have to hold down the handle for a long time to flush your toilet, you may need to replace a worn piece. This improvement will help to save a lot of money on your water bill during the year.

Anchor down pipes if there are noises that are getting on your nerves. If your pipes are making those annoying squeaking and knocking noises, the best solution could be to anchor down your pipes. Make sure that you are checking the exposed pipes first then working your way into the home.

Avoid using harsh chemicals to clear clogged drains by purchasing a hand-held manual auger. A drain auger is a one-time purchase as opposed to purchasing a new bottle every time a drain is clogged. This is especially helpful for people who deal with clogged drains often, such as people with long hair or kids who like to drop things down the drain.

Everyone in your home should know where the main water shut off valve is. By knowing where to find this valve, you’ll be able to shut off the water in the event a pipe bursts, a bathtub or toilet overflows or any other emergency that requires you to turn off the water.

To prepare for the cold weather, properly drain all outside faucet bibs and turn off the water supply to those faucets. A piece of foam taped to the outside bib can provide excellent insulation to prevent any remaining water from freezing or splurge for a specialty cover that comes complete with velcro closures.

If you need to get a new toilet, be sure you go with a trustworthy brand. Cheap toilets are more likely to break down easily and you will end up having to buy a new one. If you are unsure of which brands are good, ask the salesperson in a home improvement store.

Make sure everyone that lives in your house knows where to find and use the main water shut off valve in case there is a burst pipe emergency or your traditional radiators start leaking. This is especially important if you live in an area where your pipes may freeze. Take a moment to show your family members where the valve is and how to properly shut it off.

Plumbing isn’t as hard as it can seem, when you have access to good information and advice about how to go about solving your own plumbing problems. Next time you have plumbing problems in your house like dripping radiators, try applying the tips from this article and see if you can save some money by solving it yourself!
